The Latest in Gaming Technology

Jun 14, 2021

E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, is back for 2021 and as always, is packed with exciting announcements and reveals.

Tech Expert, Andrea Smith, shared with us the big trends in gaming and accessories, and what else we can look forward to this year.

Samsung Neo QLED

TVs designed just for gamers - the Samsung Neo QLED has exclusive gaming features like a high frame rate of 120 frames per second with incredible clarity and contrast.

Gamers can choose to play compatible PC games in either a wide aspect ratio or an ultra-immersive ratio. An on-screen game bar lets users check input lag, switch aspect ratios, or connect to a wireless headset – while remaining in the action.

For even more immersion, the TV’s Game Object Tracking Sound projects audio around the room putting players right in the middle of the action.

Available in 8K and 4K models—and in sizes ranging from 50’’ to 85’’

Power Swap Controller Battery

OtterBox has gotten into the gaming accessories space and at E3 announced an industry first – the Power Swap Controller Battery.

It’s a wireless rechargeable battery for Xbox gaming controllers that you can swap out while you’re playing – you don’t have to stop to change batteries and then reconnect to the console.

Light indicators flash to let you know when you’re running out of juice and a power reserve keeps you playing while you swap out the battery.

With an affordable price, starting at $59.95, it comes with 2 batteries, dock, reserve, and battery cage.  Other accessories include a gaming carry case, mobile gaming clip, and landscape mode privacy screen

One new hot trend is gaming accessories that you can personalize like PowerA’s FUSION Pro 2 Wired Xbox Controller.  It has customizable pro-level features like a Mappable Pro Pack with four paddles so you can switch your layout on-the-fly.  It also comes with three-way trigger locks to adjust your trigger pulls to match your game style while rumble motors give you that immersive gaming experience.

It features a familiar, ergonomic form factor with injected rubber grips for hours of comfortable gameplay. It also includes a new volume dial with one-touch Chat Mute with an LED indicator and a share button that empowers users to capture screenshots or share short video clips.

The controller can also be personalized with several swappable parts, including versatile analog sticks with either convex or concave caps and detachable, magnetic faceplates that all neatly fit in a protective case included with the controller.

The FUSION Pro 2 Wired Controller for Xbox Series X and S just launched and works with the Xbox One and PC.  MSRP: $89.99

LS15 Wireless Gaming Headsets

When it comes to gaming audio, it’s all about sound quality and comfort. LucidSound headsets have superior sound and a dual mic system for crystal-clear chatting with your team. It uses powerful 50mm drivers so you can hear even the smallest details.

The LS15 Wireless Gaming Headsets for Xbox and PlayStation have quick-access controls right on the earcup so you can adjust your audio while staying focused on the game.  They have an interference-free wireless connection to your gaming console or PC and the memory foam earpads are super comfortable, even if you wear glasses.   MSRP: $99.99
